Site supervisor meeting

I met with my site supervisor, Pamela Morris, the superintendent of Hamshire-Fannett ISD on February 22, 2012 at 9:00am.  Mrs. Morris also invited Dr. Dwaine Augustine to join us, as he will also be working with me during my internship process.  We discussed the draft internship plan that was forwarded to both during last week.  Overall both were pleased with the draft internship plan, however there were a few changes that were made based on their recommendations.  Activity 1A was shortened to be more specific to the needs of our district.  Activity 2C was changed to reflect service on the campus site based committee and attendance at the district site based committee meeting.  Activity 4C was clarified to indicate that I would be assisting in conducting a parent meeting to review testing changes specifically related to STAAR/EOC for ninth grade parents.  Activity 6A reflects attendance at the district leadership team meetings specifically.  Doty Hatcher was added as a resource for activity 19B.  Activity 20B will deal specifically with the high school campus and a facilities study review has been added.  Activity 24C will include attendance/participation in budget workshops with the board of trustees.  Activities 15B and 35A will be dealing specifically with the bond proposal for new elementary facilities.

Please visit my wiki  learn-n-lead.wikispaces.com to view my final internship plan.

Domain I Competency 2:  Development, Articulation, Implementation, and Stewardship of the District Vision and Culture
Analyze the school’s vision/mission statement as it relates to the school’s
master schedule. Too often, schools have slogans, not visions. A school’s
master schedule is where the vision is enacted. Determine whether the
vision statement is reflected in the reality of the master schedule. Provide
a summary and recommendations and include in your notebook
or e-portfolio. Review board policy on vision, mission, and educational
goals. Evaluate the degree to which congruence exists between the district/
school vision, mission, and goals. Interview district administrators,
faculty, and staff and obtain their perspectives. Assess the level of agreement
among parties involved and the degree of similarity between what
is stated “officially” and the actual practice in the school/district. Note
policies and practices not aligned with the vision. List recommendations
for greater alignment with the vision

The Internship Plan is a brief, but specific, document indicating your overall approach to the Internship Program. Within this document, you will briefly identify the areas of activities you will approach and indicate which of the ten TExES Superintendent Competencies and Quality Indicators are used with each. You will also provide a brief description of the activities, your resource person to be used, and estimated completion date for the entire plan. As always, this is a living document and subject to update and change.

District action research plan – Students may wish to add an action research plan to their Superintendent Intern Plan. You may use the two Action Research templates (School or Professional Improvement – SIP/PIP) Template, also located in your Resource Section. The action research is not a mandate, but we do encourage you to participate in district or campus initiatives that are part of your District or Campus Improvement Plan(s). You will be asked to report on your School Improvement Recommendations in
