Action Research

Action research is an educational tool used by educators and administrators to pinpoint areas of need within the educational community.  As the title indicates it is a living and evolving process that investigates and observes conditions as they occur in their natural settings.  The process identifies problem areas, plans for ways to solve the problems, implements a plan of action, and assesses the outcomes.
Action research is a powerful tool that can allow a person to gain knowledge, reinforce knowledge, or apply knowledge.  Often action research is use by groups of individuals interested in similar issues and allows for cooperative research efforts utilizing the strengths and experiences of all who participate.
